After seven decades of serving the Colac region, the team at Arundell Murray & Ryan are winding down its operations.

 Arundell Murray & Ryan principal lawyer Tony Prytz hopes to travel interstate and use his skills as a lawyer to help people located in remote indigenous communities.

 To help with the transition and to ensure the needs of Arundell Murray & Ryan clients are met, the team at Sewells Lawyers has agreed to take over the existing deeds.

 Arundell Murray & Ryan deeds include important client documents like wills, powers of attorney and property titles and this transition is subject of course to consultation with the Arundells clients directly.

 Sewells Lawyers director Shaun Moloney said many lawyers and staff had contributed to the success of Arundell Murray & Ryan over the past seven decades.

 "Many great legal professionals have worked for Arundells over the years including Tony Prytz and his predecessors Jim Ryan and Michael Murray," he said.

 "We think that our values as a law firm are really consistent with those that Arundells’ clients will be used to.  

 "That means we are well placed to help existing clients of Arundells with their ongoing storage of important documents and any other legal needs they may have into the future."

 Existing Arundell Murray & Ryan clients should receive a letter from both Arundells and Sewells over the coming fortnight to ensure they are aware of the changes and their options moving forward as to the storage of their documents.

 Mr Prytz said Sewells Lawyers had excellent local facilities to store Arundell Murray & Ryan deeds.

 "When I made the decision to prepare to wind down the Arundell Murray & Ryan practice, I approached Sewells about whether they’d be prepared to store my clients’ deeds," he said.

 "I’ve reviewed their storage practices and they are very methodical. They also have a practice of keeping an electronic copy of records as well as the physical original document, which is very helpful for clients.

 "It’s a really big job to go through 70 years of history and unfortunately we don’t always have up to date contact details for clients.  

 "Sewells and Arundell Murray & Ryan are working through this process together to try and write to each and everyone personally, but practically speaking there will be some people that we cannot track down."
