Farewell Bec

We’re sad to let you know that, as of 19 December 2025 Bec Alexander will be stepping down from her role as an owner and lawyer of Sewells.
Bec has been an invaluable member of our team since joining us thirteen years ago and she’s been an owner for the past nine. Throughout her journey with us, she has played a pivotal role in shaping who we are today. Her vision and steady leadership were especially important during the rebranding of SLM Law to Sewells Lawyers in 2022 in which she was the driving force of telling the Sewells story – one of proud history intertwined with a strong vision for the future.
Bec has always championed the value of community-based legal practice. Her deep connection to country Victoria (having grown up on a dairy farm) and her joy in serving local clients with integrity, empathy, and professionalism have inspired all of us. She’s not only a respected leader and talented lawyer, but also a genuine advocate for regional law firms in supporting thriving country communities.
Beyond her work with clients, Bec’s contribution to the behind-the-scenes running of the firm has been immense. Her thoughtful leadership, strategic insight, and dedication to the many moving parts of firm life—often unseen—have been fundamental to our success.
Bec leaves an enduring legacy of honesty, integrity, excellence and quirkiness. She will be greatly missed, and we thank her sincerely for her outstanding contribution to Sewells Lawyers. We wish her every happiness and success as she embarks on her next chapter which we know will always reflect her love and passion for the law, regional stories, and of course creating and appreciating music (especially all things heavy metal)!
